Ian Somerhalder For Planet Green’s Blue August
All this week Ian has been hosting a week block of documentaries about the world's oceans and sea's. I hope all you US gals have managed to watch this as the turtle hatching video looks amazing and must have just been such a great experience for Ian to be there and see this!
Ian Speaks Before Congress
Back at the end of July Ian spoke before Congress about H.R.50 to help endangered species. Ian gave spoke about the IS Foundation and how species are becoming endangered on our planet.
The IS Foundation, which now has dozens of affiliate groups around the world from as far off as India and Algeria, focuses its work around 3 themes: habitat conservation, species protection, and clean energy initiatives. Our goal is to support a range of projects, from more established, mature global initiatives like the Alliance for Global Conservation, to smaller, grassroots efforts initiated by individuals in the Gulf and other local communities. The hope is that we can demonstrate ways for everyone to contribute, on any scale. We want to start conversations on these issues and allow them to grow and evolve naturally. When a particular issue gathers enough interest and momentum, we’ll lend the resources needed to transform it from a conversation into a project, and hopefully, eventually, from a project to real progress....
Looking around the world at these wildlife, it's abundantly clear that humans have benefited from nature in so many ways but have also brought many species to the brink of extinction. Scientists warn us that we are on the cusp of the largest mass extinction spasm since the dinosaurs. The American people that I interact with through my IS Foundation work do not want to allow this to happen; they do not want to let these species go without a fight; and they see the way in which nature provides for people around the world. This is an issue that Americans care deeply about, and it is critical that the United States, as a world leader and global power, continue to lead the planet's efforts in global species conservation. Due to instability or indifference in the areas that many of these species call home, for most of them we are the first, last, and only hope
for survival. As the ones with the power to make a difference, the responsibility rests with us. It is imperative that we live up to it.
On behalf of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation and the Alliance for Global Conservation, I urge the Subcommittee to mark-up H.R. 50 and move to reauthorize this important piece of legislation.

Wetpaint: How did the Foundation come about?
Kim Klingler: The inspiration has probably been there Ian’s whole life long, but what was the catalyst to kick it into full swing was the BP oil spill. Ian dropped everything he was doing and went down and helped out with a variety of organizations, speaking with people and learning about the real tragedy that was on the ground. From there I think Ian realized that he had the opportunity to reach out to a large, critical mass of people and work together to create positive change.
What is the organization's biggest focus right now?
The organization is an interesting body. It doesn’t have an absolute particular focus, but it does. It’s an interconnected web, so we focus on the environment and its creatures. They go hand-in-hand with each other. The main vehicle for it is youth. We’ve got a variety of ISF youth groups all over the world, either educating or spreading concepts and strategies for projects that they’re working on. Obviously, Ian’s got a strong youth audience and they just happen to be the most active audience out there. I’ve never seen anything like this group. They are so willing to roll up their sleeves, they so want to make a difference. They just didn’t have an outlet to connect them with other teens to do it together. And Ian’s provided that outlet with ISF. We’ve got more than 100 teen groups all over the world and 80 ISF kids groups for the elementary school ages.
How hands-on is Ian Somerhalder in the organization?
He is extremely hands on. A lot of people will watch Ian in interviews where he’s got a lot of passion and a lot of energy, but it’s really quite something to see Ian talk and think and strategize over his love of this foundation. He’s included in all of our processes; he’s included in dialogues, with the volunteers, with our corporate team. He’s keenly aware of what’s going on with our groups. This is his baby. This is his love. He is so extremely happy to have an opportunity to work with a larger group of people for betterment that he would not miss a heartbeat with this organization.

Damon and Elena have made it on to the Best Kisses of the 2010-2011 TV Season!Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a huge Dalena fan... when this kiss happened in the season 2 finale episode, I almost pissed out through holding my breath for so long. Then a little squeak came out followed by a major squueeeeing session... Yes I'm actually 30 years old, but I care not! Lol.
I can only hope that now Stefan has moved over to the dark side that these two grow more closer. A girl can dream right?

CW Upfront Interviews with Ian Somerhalder

Based on the best-selling book series, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is the story of two vampire brothers, obsessed with the same gorgeous girl, who are battling to control the fate of an entire town. In season one, Stefan and Damon Salvatore returned to their hometown of Mystic Falls, Virginia, for very different reasons. Stefan was determined to get to know Elena Gilbert, who bears a striking resemblance to Katherine Pierce, the beautiful but ruthless vampire the brothers knew and loved – in 1864. Damon, on the other hand, was intent on releasing Katherine from the tomb where he believed she was trapped by a witch’s spell all those years ago. In the explosive season finale, Elena’s uncle set a plan in motion that saw the return of the vengeful Katherine Pierce. In season two, Katherine’s appearance and her precise manipulation threw a wrench into the love triangle between Stefan, Elena and Damon, and the other residents of Mystic Falls were forced to choose sides as they fell victim to a new breed of danger. Stefan and Damon were later met with their greatest challenge yet – the arrivals of Elijah and Klaus, two of the “original” vampires. As Klaus goes head to head with Damon and takes a special interest in Stefan, he is also seemingly focused on breaking the “Sun and Moon” curse by sacrificing Elena. Yet no matter what action the brothers take to protect Elena, Klaus won’t be swayed from his mission, proving to be the most powerful vampire in existence. Season three opens the door to learn more about Klaus and The Original Family as his motives for wanting Stefan on his side are finally revealed. As Stefan sinks deeper into the dark side, Damon and Elena struggle with the guilt of their growing bond even as they work together to bring Stefan back from the edge. The ghosts from Jeremy’s past have a powerful message they’re trying to deliver to him, not to mention the impact they’re having on his relationship with Bonnie. And as Caroline and Tyler grow closer, a war erupts between their families. On Saturday, one of the biggest events in all sports is happening in the Kentucky Derby -- and it just so happens to be bringing out some of the biggest stars in TV.Among some of the people currently taking in the festivities at this American tradition include Kate Gosselin (who is getting a break from her eight children to take in some horseracing) and "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder (who is using the race as an opportunity to spend some time with his family). Nick Lachey, Audrina Patridge, and country star Miranda Lambert (who is engaged to Blake Shelton of "The Voice") are all planning to be in attendance for the race itself.Before the race even started, Somerhalder and Gosselin each attended a Glitz and Glam gala -- with Kate sporting one of the event's traditional hats. (In terms of fashion, this is as close as America gets to the Royal Wedding.)'

Ian Somerhalder Talks To MTV About The 'Vampire Diaries' Season Finale
From MTV Hollywood Crush: "Ian: "We have 29 days [left in shooting]. I'm just curious as to what the hell is going to happen, I'm excited how we're gonna [end it]. Season one was such a great journey. It took us all for a ride. I'm excited to see what happens. I'm excited to see it because it's not as if you read a film and you've got the definite answer. I don't know anything, which is kind of like life."
Okay...Then we ventured to get Mr. Smolderhotter to weigh in on what he'd like to see happen if he were in charge of writing the rest of the season. "What I would like to see is, is I would like to see Damon kidnap Elena and then go to the Caribbean. Go to Paris first, then they go looking for her and then they disappear to the Caribbean for a season or something, while everyone frantically searches for them."
So, would things get sexy? "Why not?" Ian added."
